Our theme for 2024 is "I Will Build My Church". We will be going through the scriptures to learn everything we can about the church. This week we discussed the MOST important question in the Bible . The question that Jesus asked His disciples, the same question that Jesus asks all of us - "Who do you say that I AM?  Everyone must answer this question. My answer is the same as Simon Peter's - " You are the Messiah, the Son of the Living God". I hope your is the same. And with this response and revelation, Jesus began to introduce the church. Jesus said the church would be built on this; on Jesus and who He is. On what Peter confessed. The church is built on Jesus Christ, the Solid Rock, the Firm Foundation on which everything is built, and the knowledge and understanding of who He is. The church will also be built by Christ. Jesus said, "I Will build MY church. We can plainly see from what Jesus said, that He will build His church and also that the church is HIS church. Many people think that the church is theirs and that it is their responsibility to build the church. According to the scriptures, these people have it all wrong. So let us see the church as it is explained in scripture. It is built ON Jesus, By Jesus, and it is HIS. He purchased it with His precious blood. The church is not ours or anyone else's. Because the only payment to acquire the church was the sacrifice of the perfect lamb, Jesus Christ, the only one able to open the seals of the scroll.
